japanese koi
can live a hundred years
and even though
they don't belong
they can still survive
a canadian winter
just sliding, slipping
below the ice
turning eyes upward
to the weak sun
through frosted glass
mouths opening
in surprised little ohs
and if even they
who don't belong
in ponds in yards
through canadian winters
can survive it
then so can i
survive anything
